Shade Flowers in KY

Post  doc_jh on 3/27/2011, 8:56 am

We just moved and I have a half acre of wooded shaded dry area. Any suggestions on flowers for this area for southeast KY. Always had full sun and now I have to find some flowers for shade in this area.

Coleus, hostas, ferns...you might try some ginger, too? (and, welcome! glad you\'re here)

Check your local county extension office and a local garden center too, they will have a few ideas as to what does well in your area, and you can choose from there. You can also check the online seed companies, Michigan Bulb is a good start, they have a list of shade plants and what zones they do best in.
