It's snowing and raining again and only 34F. Bummer, my bees are arriving this afternoon. It going to be a chore to install the girls into their hive in this weather.

Can you keep the bees contained until tomorrow?

According to my hourly weather graph, the rain should be tapering off between dinnertime & dark.

Sadly no, they have been in the little transport cage for about 3-4 days already. We will put them in the hive this afternoon. Last night we set up a 15' canopy because the beekeeping class is coming at 1 pm for the installation demonstration. I think I may just light a small fire outside to give the illusion of warmth. It's really coming down too. And sticking. I am absolutely disgusted.

Its Sat the 23rd April and we're having a combo of rain and snow mixture coming down in our neck of the woods. No garden plans for today except starting some Sophie's Choice organic tomatoes for our Community Garden members.

Hope to see the sun shining tomorrow.

Soooooooo, I had 16 folks standing in my yard, under a canopy, in this miserable weather for 2 hours whilst we discussed how to install bees into a hive. There were a few side discussions about the SFGs. Very Happy
In the end it was collectively decided that it was better to wait for the fairer weather that tomorrow will bring. Thus, I have a small box with 10,000 bees within sitting in my sunroom. They are buzzing and ready to get out of the box.

Oh, we had all the discussion today (ugh, the snowy rain coming down and all). Tomorrow, there is the other half of the class having a demonstration a few towns away. I will be installing the bees myself tomorrow. Fingers crossed for fine weather. Very Happy

I am sending a rush order of sunshine from Fl. hope it arrives in time. sunny I am getting to love bees a huge change since I was phobic. Just today out in the garden I, for the first time, heard buzzing and did not tense up but instead thought to myself "Oh good, they have come to pollenate my cucs". 47yrs old and still growing.

Is this the whine & moan thread? Because I'm about there.

Just can't get motivated to fill those boxes when it's gloomy, drizzly, cool, and yuck outside. The critter fence is up, everything ready to go except filling the gaps under the staked beds, eh, and the netting on the trellises, which I'm reading is giving people grief but I haven't tried it yet.

So okay - weather report shows warm (drizzly, muggy) weather tomorrow, but on Friday it should be clearing up. Gotta. Get. Motivated.
