I will be away for a couple of days and it will not rain at all! I don't have a soaker hose and was wondering if any of you have used plastic bottles as drip irrigation system? Do you think I must bury the bottle or can I just lay it on top of the ground? I don't think there is enough space to bury a 2 ltr bottle next to each plant but maybe in between them?

I had to be away for 2 weeks, so I set up a timer on the sprinkler. Something I had bought last year for my deck flowers for the same reason. Since I have tabletops, I also had to figure a way to get the water up not just out. rebar, a leftover piece of pvc pipe and a cheap stake type sprinkler did the trick. The $40 tripod setup I bought at Farmers Supply fizzeled after about 6 rotations of the sprinker head so I returned it.
