Is fine mulch good enough to use for leveling boxes??
I am concerned that the fine mulch won't be durable enough to keep the boxes level through the season. They are from the reclamation center and are very finely chipped pcs. Would I be better to just dig out some of the child divots? How level do the boxes have to be??

Your boxes should be fairly level. The concern is if they slope to one side, your Mel's Mix may follow to that side or corner. A severe slope may cause your MM to actually wash away.
My opinion, and I have not read anything that supports this, is that fine mulch would be satisfactory because the boxes will kind of nestle into it.

Forget my prior post, BYBG post about not using fine mulch makes a lot of sense.
