New Compost bin

Post  Mtman1849 on 4/3/2011, 10:31 am

I built me a new compost been yesterday, I will admit that the compost that is in the been now is some that has been working in a chicken wire compost bin since last fall that I moved it to the new one to give me a start. It is easier to turn now.

I like it, you have made it with the ability to put more "slats" in to make the walls higher correct?
I like that idea. I had seen that idea before and thought how nice and neat it would look for me. I have my chicken wire compost bin, it serves its function well. I need to re fill the bin though, the ready to use compost is on a tarp and covered until I get it all to where it needs to be and in bags or something to save for the future things that need to be planted.

What did you use to hold the slats? Looking for ideas to share with my builder Smile

All I use for the slats was 2x4s to hold them up and screwed the slats to the 2x4s using 3" screws I guess I could add more slats in the future just by screwing more on. I used scrap 2x8s and 2x6s for the slats

Just thought that I would share another pic of my second compost bin, the one on the left is feed with the dirt for my old strawberry pyramid as I turn the one on the right I will mix in the dirt on the left

I also just found out that the stand for my tumble is finished I will show pics as soon as my friend brings it and I get it set back up
