But well worth it. Plus you only have to build your boxes & your mix once (until you have to add more boxes). What are you growing this year?

You can now breathe easier. The hardest work is done.

Now you can plan what to put where and enjoy your harvest.

Good luck.

Thomalm

So nice to have you here. Those boxes are great and I like the conduit trellis. That is what I am in the middle of completing now. My conduit is put together (the easy part) now I am ready to tie my trellis netting.

Do you have your planting plan ready?

Keep us updated

It's a masterpiece, and that's the hard work done. I'm liking that practical slope you have going on there.

I love how you incorporated into the slope, too. It was a lot of work, but it's done. Now, the easier part begins. Remember, no more tilling....EVER!!

Welcome aboard, too! It's great to have you here. Hope to see you bouncing around the forums once you get settled in.

to SFG and the forum!! You started out right, pictures! We love pictures. We also love questions, so ask away. What a great job you did, and like everyone said, the hard part is over, even if you build another box later, you now know what you are doing.

Welcome again, and I see you are in Grand Prarie, I'm guessing TX, right outside of Dallas, when you get time check out the Lower South Regional thread and meet some others in your area.

I'm having trouble making the picture big enough for me to see, it's probably user error on my end as I've only had 1 cup of coffee. I'm bumping this up so I can check it again in a bit, or maybe someone else can jump in too.

You may want to consider seperating your hot peppers from your sweet peppers, there are some here who have had a little bit of heat added to their sweet peppers from the hot pepers being too close.

The only other thing I see you may want to consider changing is the lettuce behind the cuke, unless you want your lettuce shadded, which I personally do. Cukes need trelis, unless you want them to go all over the place. I will be putting up a trelis soon on the south side of one of my beds, and planting tall and climbing flowers, to see if I can get some lettuce further into the season, it's almost impossible to get any down here in TX after the middle of April, if you are lucky you can push it until the end of April.

I wish you the best of luck, and please if you need anything else, just ask, and I am sure others will be on in a bit and offer more (and better) advice than I did!!!

I am actually trying to shade the lettuce. I am getting a very late start on lettuce so I will try to grown in shade of the cukes but if that does not work I wont be heartbroken (and I will try again in the fall).

I don't want to poke holes in the weed barrier so I was thinking of trying the Florida weave with the cukes. Will that provide enough support?

Not sure what to do about the sweet peppers but I think I might risk it since I don't mind the heat. Very Happy

I'm not sure what the Florida weave is, I've never heard of it. Keep me posted on the progress of the lettuce, I'm curious to see how you do, I love pushing the envelope a bit. If it does not work and your cukes are still producing thorugh the summer, try planting lettuce a few weeks earlier than you are "supposed" to and see how it does.

Florida weave is used to support plants, without the standard trellis. Personally, I think it is very time consuming, more so than a conduit trellis with netting.

The idea is to use posts and weave your twine from the post, around the plants, then around the next post, then around the plants again. My description is not very good, so check out this link instead. Good pictures
