Wow -- it's actually compost!

I started compost bins a LONG time ago (i.e. over a year ago in fact). Last fall, when I was poking around in one of the bins it looked pretty good. I didn't do a thing with it until this last weekend when I was fixing up one of my SFG beds.

Lo and behold -- it is now compost. Most of the worms have moved out and it is just this wonderful, black soil. Except for a few twigs and rocks it is ready to move to my SFG bed. I feel so proud! bounce

Way to go! Isn't it just the most amazing thing!??! I love how that happens. Now you have black gold for your plants! happy composting.

Congratulations! (Does the happy dance) Isn't it a great feeling to see the end of the cycle?

We filled the new 63cf tumbler on Saturday, only 6 days after it was built. Sunday I grabbed the roll of fencing and made a stand up pile of 66cf which took 20 minutes to fill. silly me So one more 66cf pile was made right next to that one and it's 2/3rds full already! I'm sure glad we still have miles of fence we'll never use for anything else. Wink

Wow... you are going to get a lot of great compost. I am curious to see how much better my SFG garden does with REAL, homemade compost. It looked a lot richer then the stuff in the bags.

It's a wonderful thing to hear it calling your name and you just can't help but run your hands through it and smell it!

Are you going to be able to be around more often for a while? We miss your company!

The neighbors will be happy with us for a long time to come. (lol) I'm sure your homebrew compost is better on every level than the bag stuff. The things they try to pass off as compost these days are shocking.
