Post  buy4now on 4/12/2011, 11:32 pm

I dont know what to charge them. Is there anyone that has charged to set up someone else's SFG? I'd love some input.

Belinda Jenson is the teacher coordinator for the SFG Foundation. She started and runs a business that does just what you're asking about. She's in a different state, but might be of some help.

Labor, in this case, = whatever you want to make for a full day's work. That is for a couple normal sized beds.

I wouldn't charge less than a half day's wage since I wouldn't be able to do anything else that morning. However, if it goes past lunch (including trips to the store), I charge full day.

My price: 2 4x4's, 1 4x8, with hoops on the 4x8......$450-$500 here in the Midwest.....more if you want it planted, too.

Do they have the materials (beds), or are you starting from scratch? Will you be taking out the existing sod or is the ground prepared? Are you making the soil?

Depends upon the neighbor's situation. Are the old and unable to do the work? If so, I would most likely do it for the cost of the supplies (and maybe a pie or something). Even better, get some scouts to do it for volunteer hours or merit badges and supervise their work with a glass of lemonade in your hand Cool

If they were fully capable, just stretched on time, I would personally be happy with $150 to $200 plus supplies for the full day. Of course you can go down to the local convenience store and hire workers for $10 an hour - cash - no questions asked... Shocked
