Yeah .... doctors know more than me, but they dont know everything, so we'll worry about getting past 32 weeks, once we get to 32 weeks.

For now, it's nice to have someone who's being honest with us & not pooring false hope and unrealistic expectations down our throats.

On a happier note ....

Mama's collection of "wardrobe contraband" is complete (for now) Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy ..

Cute, but watermelon smuggler is still my favorite. But anything beats a hospital gown.

Funny how great minds think alike...when out in the garden is when I send my little prayers to baby Acara LOL

ACARA: two of my boys were breached...when the third one was about to be born I kept asking the Dr if he was suuuuure the baby was coming the right side out: he said well if he isn't he has a REALLY HAIRY BUTT Rolling Eyes

My preemie was breech as well. Well, actually she was flipping around in there as they were trying (yet again) to stop the labor. Too easy for them to do gymnastics when they are this early. At that point a c-section was the least of my concerns. So excited to see you moving up in weeks! I've seen firsthand the difference between 24 and 28 weeks and it is incredible. Good job, Mama!

I appreciate doctors who have the courage and the decency to tell you honestly the way things are. If the outlook is grim or it is going to hurt, then say so. Don't tell me I will feel a bit of a 'pinch' when you know it is going to hurt like @#$%. Don't avoid me. Don't sugarcoat things. Don't hold out false hope to me. Tell me the TRUTH and give ME the chance to look at the options and make whatever mental and physical preparations are necessary to deal with the issue at hand.

It is great that you have been told what to expect. It is not great that your wife will have to spend the rest of the pregnancy in hospital. But it is so much easier to settle into hospital living for the long haul, if you know there is no chance of going home before baby is born. To hold out that hope to you, when they know it is unrealistic is just unfair. I am glad you have been told what to expect, as much as they can determine. Lots of times, things go better than they expect but often they don't. So in the meantime, you and your wife can settle in and make things as great for baby as possible and feel at peace, knowing you are doing the best you can for your little one.

All the best to all of you.

Love, hugs and prayers.

Gwynn

PS. I LOVE your taste in clothes. That watermelon smuggler shirt is priceless and my fav as well.

Post  sherryeo on 4/30/2011, 11:37 am

Ok, I'm going to admit something really embarrassing here! I sat here a good 3 minutes, waiting for the "baby loading" t-shirt to load up before I figured out that IS the shirt! I'm absolutely in when it comes to any group chanting/praying/wishing/thinking that this baby makes it at least to a week beginning with "3," the world needs more people with Acara's sense of humor!

Forgive me, acara, for my "focal point" of prayer has shifted...

Here's to hoping you post a picture of a doctor eating a labcoat soon! I'll even ship him some BBQ sauce if I get the right info.

I'm home for a few minutes this morning.

We are officially at 28 weeks today Very Happy

Yesterday was a little rough. We went from "nothings going on ...maybe we'll release you" to...... oh crud, you may be having this baby in the next 24 hours ...... all in a 4 hour window.

Not sure which caused more of a panic; hearing they may let my wife out of hospital .... knowing the paint was still wet in the bedrooms & nursery, carpet guys were coming and mamas bed was laying in pieces on the living room floor so that the carpet guys could do their thing ....... or the "you could have the baby anytime" Laughing Laughing .

Nothing like trying to Google search a Marriot Suite Hotel from your wifes hospital room, without getting caught.....because she may be getting out of hospital & you don't have a non-toxic (due to paint and carpet adhesive) place with a bed to put her in.....and there was no way I was telling her she couldn't come home after a couple of weeks in the hospital Embarassed

However, it apparently wasn't meant to be.

Short story; failed the short gestational diabetes test, passed the long test. Then we failed the FFN test (fetal fiber nectoid ....tells you if your likely to have the baby in the next 1-14 days ...failing FFM = having baby soon) & finally came up waaayyy short on the cervical length measurement (12mm). Now we are officially, "here for the long haul" at the hospital & it's just a waiting game, according to the test results yesterday.

We made it to 28, but I'm not so sure the DR. is going to be eating his labcoat 4 weeks from now Very Happy

Thanks for the update Acara. You have more anxious Granny's, Aunt and Uncles on the forum pulling for you.

In light of the latest tests, I'm back to the chant 3 mantra, anything that starts with a 3 and ocassionally I'll add a 4 for 34. Hold on there little one.

Hoping for more but being realistic,

Kay

Acara,
After have gone through a similar situation with my twins, I can say a test is a test. Yes, the test does give indications to better prepare everyone for all case scenarios, but it is just that, a test. 28 weeks is awesome and if she were having twins, somewhere between 34 and 38 would be considered "term". You are only 6 weeks from there!!!!!! I know all situations and circumstances are different, but I thrive, and I'm sure you do too, on optimism. To give you an idea. My twins were born at 38 weeks. All the ultrasounds, one every week, indicated they were between 6 and 6.5 lbs. Well they arrived and my daughter was 5.3 and my son was 5.5. Little bitty, little things compared to the 7.12 lb-er I had previously given birth to, but the point is medicine is not an exact science. Continue to perservere in prayer for strength, for your wife and baby's health, and for the DR's and nurses caring for your family and we will all continue to do so as well. Every second of every minute of every day, your little "love" is getting stronger!!! Remember to take it one day at a time, because every day is a milestone. (a hug for you and your wife from my husband and I)

buttaflie, if I believed all the ultrasounds I had and doctors words, I'd have 4 girls instead of 3 boys and a girl.

Acara, here's to a healthy & happy mom & baby!!!

MY DEAR CHILD.

You are the poem
I dreamed of writing
the masterpiece
I longed to paint.
You are the shining star
I reached for In my
ever hopeful quest
for life fulfilled..
You are my child.
Now with all things
I am blessed.
