With parents like you two, this precious baby cant go wrong... he will grow up with humor and love !!! I have some of the biggest laughs in my life from what our children say to us. I could write a comedy act just from their sayings!!! And then I can take some of what they say and put it to the greatest scholar Smile I still think of you 3 out there in that garden of mine!! Cant wait until you and your precious cargo are home.
Ha-v-v

I have to share one of our humorous ones.. our youngest Jedidiah.. I should have known how funny he would be when he was a week old, staring past me while holding him smiling !!!

Ugh. I can't imagine doing it that way. We lived an hour away from the hospital, too, but hung out in the Ronald McDonald Family Room during the day. Did you know there's an attachment to plug a breastpump into the car? Pumping at 70 mph is always a thrill and a great way to multitask.

Treasure these days - these little munchkins grow so fast. In just a few short months you will look back at these pictures and not remember him ever being that small!

He looks great! Both of my kiddos were full term and were small. One was under 6 pounds, the other just over. So, teeny tiny babies is all I know. Enjoy this time and get as much sleep as you can.

First check-up

Post  acara on 7/15/2011, 7:48 am

Saw the Dr's 2day & Connors thriving under home care.

Mama's a natural and learning fast and thankfully daddy hasn't gotten too rusty over the last 16 years; so we make a pretty good team. I haven't managaged to figure out how to lactate yet Very Happy , so for now I'm filling the Technical Substenance & Lactation Maintenance Engineer Position (bottle maker/washer/sterilizer), Procurement Coordinator (shopper) and general duty man-servant roles Laughing. Mama is also tolerating my excessive begging/whining for additional/supplemental turns to feed the baby & I've actuallly managed to negotiate at least a couple of her "turns" away from her each day tongue .

We're already back up to birth weight (normallly takes 2-4 weeks for a preemie), hearings back in left ear & all the physicals look good.

Connors still a night baby and on 2-hours cycles, but that's to be expected. The night shift in the hospital nursery was typically younger & highly social nurses who spent a lot of 1-on-1 time with him (wonderful) in the wee-hours of the morning ....so 12am-4am seems to be his "active cycle" where he's looking for attention/engagement.

We're making progress on flipping his nights/days & the 2-hour eating cycle actually works to our advantage on trying to fatten him up a catching up on the skin/skin contact time with mom/dad.

The bilirubin(jaundice indicator) is still up too high, so we're going to have go with alternating feedings of breast milk & formula and get him out for a little pre-10am sunlight (if it would ever stop raining here).

We've got an "old school" pediatrician who's given us strict orders that he wants us to do nothing for the next week but focus on bringing Connor back in with "no neck and a Buddah-belly" (a.k.a. fatten him up)...... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Pretty sure we can handle that.

Sounds like you two have got your system down. My daughter was jaundiced when born, I kept her swing in the window where it got the morning sun, she'll be 13 next weekend. As for helping mom, you could always try Jack's Manary Gland.

Acara, hugs and tears and smiles to you! I have been too long absent from this board, so I just now caught up on Connor. How very hard it must have been when he was first born to be unable to hold him! And how completely totally wonderful that he is home now!

Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations!

I have been gone for a bit (attending the wedding of my middle son) and missed being able to greet Connor on his Birth Day. You won't believe what a short time it will take for him to be a chubby and giggling baby.

Thank you so much for letting us share this adventure with you and Mama Acara. We all seem to be a bit invested in his health and progress.

Congratulations and so glad everyone is home. Now you can implement the master plan of ultimate spoilage.

I love you to you three.
