Good Friday Miracle..
This is a story I heard from our news coverage in St. Louis regarding the tornadic outbreak. I thought I'd share it since many people are searching for a "higher power" in times like these. Whether it be a tornado or simply an economic situation you are stricken with, I beg you to search for something you can find hope in. Sometimes, it's a simple story like this that can't be explained any other way....if you think about it from the right frame of mind.
Our area was hit by tornadoes last night. Today, the footage and stories are all over local news stations, and undoubtedly all over the internet, too. The hardest hit area was Bridgeton, MO...near Lambert Int'l Airport. Bridgeton has sections of two and three story homes that have been completely leveled to the ground. There are cars in the middle of streets and even flipped over and tossed into yards and neighbor's garages. Churches have roofs ripped off. One had it's steeple ripped off while they were in a Good Friday service. Remarkebly no one has been seriously injured!
But, not one of these stories compares to one of an elderly couple. The woman, in her late 80's, has been living alone for awhile because her husband has been in a nursing home. Her husband is in his early 90's. She went to the nursing home on Thursday to bring him home for the Easter weekend. His favorite place to sit in the house is in the kitchen while her favorite place to sit is in the living room. Just like they had been doing for years before the nursing home was required, Friday night they were sitting in their places...just enjoying some television. Once the weather moved in, she went into the kitchen to be with her husband because she didn't want him to be sitting alone and she didn't want him to have to move in with her.
The tornado made a direct hit on their house. And, half of the house was ripped off it's foundation. Tossed into the neighborhood. Which part of the house was untouched? Yup. The kitchen where they were sitting. Both were fine, and the nursing home was also severly damaged by the storm.
You may call it luck. But, I believe differently. I encourage some of you to look at things differently, too. I am not a deeply religious guy, and this isn't the forum for religious discussion. But, I will tell you that someone out there in internet land is reading this story.....and it helped.
YOU are the person I put this on the forum for. Best of luck. And, may the tornadoes of your lives never reach your kitchens!

Thanks for the story. I am glad they are well, as with you and your family.

Thanks so much for that.
The Weather Channel has videos of the inside of the airport online now, the halways became wind tunnels.
Please, please, keep an eye on your local weather, April is not over and neither are the storms.

Thanks BBG. I wish this Forum had a "like" button.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Yep, pretty crazy around here. Monday is set for round 4 or 5......I've lost track this year.
I grew up in Kansas and we didn't have tornadoes come through this steadily. Someone can ring Mother Nature and tell her to shift that jet stream any time she's ready.......I know we are.

Re: Good Friday Miracle..
Yes we are blessed. My yard is a swamp right now but the tornado just missed us. My husband was at work and experienced the edge of it. No damage to the building but street signs, trees, and powerlines were down around them. They had to help clean up before being able to drive home.

My uncle had a few windows blown out but a row of houses behind him are gone. All of my family has been accounted for and homes are still standing.
They are calling for heavy rain again tonight and possible severe weather again tomorrow.
Praying for a break soon.

BYBG - I thought of you & your family Friday night while I was watching the Reds game. I'm glad to hear you are fine. The pictures of the damage in St. Louis are so devastating! Stay safe!
