We have compost!

Post  GlassHen on Mon 25 Apr 2011 - 10:12

I'm excited to report that we have compost this year! Smile Made entirely from kitchen scraps, garden leftovers and leaves.

Here's a picture from the bottom of the pile. (I'm sliding up the front door of our homemade, recycled-pallet bin.) Never thought I'd be this excited about dirt Smile

Ooh! I want to see a picture of your material in the box. Do you have one from the inside? (To compare with mine)

Here's a pic of the contents.....

We were gone over the holiday weekend so there's not much as far as "green" kitchen scraps on top right now.

Here's a closer shot. You can see some watermelon rines from last week...

Ooohhhhh. Beautiful....

Great to know that your inside photos will turn into black compost at the bottom! My compost innards look a lot like yours, so I'm hopeful.

I sifted some of our compost pile today and ended up with two 18-gallon totes worth. I had a good laugh by myself since one of the bins was marked "Xmas". Sure did feel like it to me Smile
