Is everybody ok?

Post  cabinfever on 4/28/2011, 9:16 am

Just wanted to see how all of our southern fellow SFG'ers are doing after all the storms last night. Hope you're all okay. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We had a tornado literally about 2 miles from here. There's lots of flooding now. We've received around 3+ inches of rain since about 7:00am.
We got through (or are getting through) this storm fairly well. We didn't lose power Smile and we're all ok.

I hope everyone else is doing fine.

Oh on a side note, I saw my SFG this morning with a 1" sheet of water on it.... something I've never seen before.

We're okay. Didn't have it bad here. Mountains usually protect us from bad storms by breaking them up before they reach us. Thanks for checking though. Very thoughtful of you.

We're fine too out here in Western NC. I haven't heard any reports of tornadoes near by, but we had some nasty thunderstorms. I'm about to go check my SFG now.

NE NC ok for now. may get some really stong winds a little later. Recommending we batten down lawn furniture.

I'm fine northwest of Atlanta a little ways. They sure scared us with the weather reports last night, and the siren went off at least four times, but we missed just about the whole event aside from a little wind and rain. Up in the northwest corner of GA, sadly, they didn't fare so well. Do we have anyone from the hard hit areas of Alabama on the forum? I hope all are okay.

After 2 days of tornado sirens we finally are having a sunny day here. No damage, just very wet.

Memphis is OK. Some power outages. West Memphis has damage. Pocahontas AR had a levee breech and had to evacuate. We are lucky and happy to see the sun. West Memphis has the continued worry of the Mississippi is continuing to rise, not expected to crest until early May. It's already higher than I can remember.

Watched the you-tube footage of the Tuscaloosa, Alabama tornado. Draw dropping. Words can't explain how shocked I was at the sheer size of that thing and the feeling of terror / helplessness those in its path must have felt.

Reports say the funnel alone measured a mile and a half across at times !!!

My heart goes out those left in its wake and I truly hope our forum posters and families are okay.

What we're experiencing pales in comparison with so many others.

The Mississippi is at almost 32 feet here. Flood stage is 35 feet. By next Tuesday, the river is set to be at flood stage, and in three weeks it is supposed to crest at 43 feet. As long as there isn't any more heavy rain upriver, we'll be okay because of the levee, though the farmers and many industries will be flooded. If the river rises above 48 feet, we'll be in trouble. I'm sure they would open the spillway to try to keep that from happening.
