Frost Damage

Post  Aub on 5/9/2011, 10:54 pm

I have a few plants that had a bit of frost damage. Some tomatoes have a couple leaves that are a little off colored. One tiny one has almost all the leaves gone. I know that little one is a gonner but what about the others? Should I do anything?

Hard to say. I always give things awhile before pronouncing them dead. Plants are pretty resilient guys.

And, if starting from seeds, I stagger and have more coming until all danger of frost has passed. I don't stop when I have what I need. I can always give extras away because I run ahead of the locals with my aggressive nature.

If buying transplants, I save the receipts. I am not afraid to pitch a fit in front of a manager when they were trying to sell me a tender plant before my frost date....or if they offer a guarantee on other plantings.

I would say leave them for a bit. I was tempted to pull out some of my yellow pears this winter when they got frosted, but I left them. They got frosted 3 different times over the winter and I wasn't sure they were going to make it

This is them a couple of weeks ago! They are amazing plants now!!!
