New in SE Idaho

Just bought the book. Since planting season starts about the end of May I figure I have plenty of time to get my boxes ready. Really excited to try SFG since my garden has not yeilded much except weeds since I first planted it. Not to mention an infestation of morning glories, pretty much indestructable weeds. I have high hopes of my garden now. And just figured out I can make boxes out of untreated pallets, or very inexpensively from Home Depot. Glad there is a forum, I am sure I will have many questions. Smile Amy

I understand your morning glory pain, we had that issue at our former (or current, we still havent sold it) home. Now, we are dealing with ivy, I'll take the morning glory back...

I feel your morning glory pain! I have been dealing with it for 15 years in my rose and lily beds. My neighbor (lovely woman but doesn't garden) whose front yard is 10 feet from my beds doesn't deal with it so it loves to come under the fence and visit me. I hate to admit it by I have been know to use some decidely non-organic methods of attack.

Non-organic methods.

I have been told by the horticulturists in my area that there is no hope, unless you a) kill everything and replace all soil or b) dig three feet down for all those little white roots. I dislike them very much, every little piece of those roots grows. Rototilling just makes them spread. I am so excited to just cover them with weed paper and forget them.

Welcome to the group. Its a great way to grow fresh and tasty food for you and the family. You can't beat it for flavor. And the fun and hard work go hand in hand making it all worthwhile.
