Do you know what this flower is?

Post  Josh on 5/29/2011, 5:20 pm

I'm looking for the name of this flower.
It is a perennial, about 12 to 18 inches tall and wide.
The flowers are about the size of a half dollar.
something 2
something 1
This is what the leaves look like, they are smooth to touch.

Looks like some type of knapweed to me, but I've only seen them in the wild. Was this a purchased plant or seed?

I think the leaves look different but not enough of the leaves are showing in the thistle picture to be sure.

The bud looks like Bachelor button and the bloom a bit like monarda, but the foliage is all wrong. Josh is this native wild or cultivated?

~~~~~
Update: I found it, it is a perennial bachelor button Dealbata Rosea Centaurea
you can see another specimen Here.
Well, I guessed knapweed right anyway. Smile Knapweeds are in the same Genus, Centaurea.
Centaurea dealbata 'Rosea'
a.k.a. Persian Cornflower, Persian Bachelor Button, Ornamental Knapweed
