First Salad of 2011

Post  marc-in-pa on 6/2/2011, 9:45 pm

What a great night!

Came home from a long day at work, went into the garden and picked a lettuce leaf from every type I'm growing this year along with a few spinach leafs. Mixed in some sliced almonds, cranberries, some sliced turkey, and mixed with asiago-balsamic vinaigrette. Yum!

By far the best salad I had this year!

Can't wait till I can add a tomato, pepper, red onion, and cucumber from the same trip out to the backyard.

Yum is right! Nothing like fresh lettuce from our gardens! I am a confessed lettuce/greens seed-aholic. The more variety and color, the better the salad tastes to me.

And if you like turkey and cranberries in your salad, you might like to try this Apple Cider vinaigrette I posted in another thread: http://squarefoot.creatingforum.com/t7461-mixed-lettuce-salad-with-strawberries#67471

We usually use craisins, but it was just as delicious with the fresh strawberries.

I'm sooo trying that Apple Vinaigrette recipe. That may not be the most masculine sentence I've put together in some time so I'm going to lift some weights and maybe spit for no reason.

Thanks for sharing Patti!

I'm not sure lifting the weights and spitting for no reason are quite enough, marc. I think you'd better fire up the grill and throw some man-sized t-bone steaks on to go with the Apple Vinaigrette Salad to macho things up a bit! Just kidding, truth is, I think most women would be thrilled if their man made them a tasty Apple Vinaigrette Salad!

funny post
You could always drink straight cider vinegar. That should put a hair or two on your chest.

Gotcha... revised game plan. Do a shot of apple wine vinegar, deliver a loud belch, and... just to be sure... I'll follow with a strategic scratch.

That should set my yin and yang straight until the next recipe. Very Happy
