Thank you so much for the suggestion of the watering spikes. I don't think we have a harbor freight near me, but I was just on vacation in NM with my MIL and she had one just down the road. Literally on the way their from the airport, the day after I saw this post, I saw the store and got all excited - dear hubby just shook his head - I bought 36 of them home with me (that would be 6 packs of 6 - not 36 packs). I used 12 of them yesterday and am starting to think perhaps I should have bought more! Love love love them - now I just need a bunch of plastic bottles Smile

Hmm - also just checked their website - apparently we have one about 5 miles from my house - lol - so I CAN stock up if I need to!

Lucky you! I just checked and the closest one to me is 163 miles. Mad I'm lucky this summer, though. My 22 yo DS moved in while he waits to ship out for bootcamp. He's my "waterer" when I'm gone. He actually seems to like it.. when I get home on Sunday nights he can't wait to take me out to the garden to show me how it's grown!

Trill, my son went off to bootcamp a few years ago, he was at Fort Benning. I'm happy that you get to have him with you for a time before he heads out.

Kiwirose, I'm glad you like the water spikes or stakes or what ever they are called (I'm exhausted). I too need a few more packages, I hope to have one for each tomato plant.

Thanks, Val. It's not something I ever thought either of my sons would do. I'm concerned (he's chosen EOD specialist as his MOS), but I'm very proud, too. He doesn't go to bootcamp until January so I'm VERY thankful he'll be home through the holidays. So far, living with an adult son has been a LOT easier than living with a teenage son. LOL

You are so right on that one, I've got 3 boys (24, 22-the one in the Guard, and 14) and then a 12yo daughter. Give me teenage boys any day over a teenage girl though, the boys you can send outside to chop firewood to work off the attitude issues, my daughter is another story. 2 weeks after I heard the words "It's a girl" I wrote my mother an appology note, need I say more.

What a great idea! Do you know if there's a resource in Canada for something like that?
