June Planting..

Post  Pduzant on 6/4/2011, 8:14 pm

So what should I be planting from seed now?
Should it be started in pot or in plot?
thinking

Hi Pduzant. Bumping this up for others in your area to see. I am wayyyy northwest of you in Canada and am just finishing up planting both seeds and plants but your growing season is so much different than mine.

Best of luck. Hopefully someone else in your area will see this and be able to help you.

Your South East regional host is Shannon1 from around St Augustine she usually answers lots of posts but late in the evening. Surly she will offer some ideas.

You might try some sweet potatoes. I just planted mine @ 1.5 weeks ago, pre-rooted and sprouted, and they are doing fine so far. Okra and field peas (crowder, black-eye, purple hull, etc.) like it really hot so if you can get them to sprout they will probably do well for you.. Good Luck !!

I'm planting more corn, also beans, cilantro, dill, parsley, basil, summer squash, melons, and radishes from seed, all directly in the garden.

Those are all good just planted some okra myself I would like to add edamame to the list it loves the heat. I got a late start this year so I have left some squares empty in anticipation of planting fall crops at the end of Aug. They call them fall crops not because that is when they are planted but because that is when they are harvested. Fall and winter gardening are said to be even better than the summer here in our neck of the woods.

It may be a little hot here now for some of these but you could give them a try. I know the green houses are no longer carrying most seedlings so late in the season so growing from seed, like The cats other mother suggested is your best option.
