Middle South USDA Hardiness zones 6-8; AHS Heat zones 5-9
Virginia (just east of Richmond running down the east side of the Appalachians), western North Carolina and western South Carolina, into the Tennessee Valley (sections of the northern strip of Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, into central Arkansas, and parts of central Texas (west of Dallas and Waco)

Gardening season is about 200 frost free days. Last frost usually comes in early
April, late April in higher elevations. Be ready for first frost in
late October, even though it often does not come until November. Mild
winters allow gardners to grow and harvest hearty vegitables well into
December.
