Night time bug raids
Oh, man, am I ever going to have to go check the garden after dark more often! I've seen where something's been munching on my tomato leaves lately and looks like tomato hornworm droppings around. So I went out with a flashlight tonight about 10 and didn't find the hornworm, but did find 2 different clumps of leaf-footed bug nymphs.
If you've ever seen them, they're little orangish bugs with black legs and hang around in gangs, usually have seemed to prefer my zucchini plants, cucumbers and honey dew melons.

There must have been a dozen of them in each group, clustered together on my southern peas. I sprayed them with Neem, just because there were so many of them I wasn't confident I could squish them all before they ran. I'm not sure whether Neem kills them, but they are soft-bellied in their nymph stage, so maybe. Anyway, I squished as many as I could.
I also killed about 5 of the adult leaf-footed bugs! I hate those things! They helped the stinkbugs ruin my garden last summer! They are, truly, bad bugs and if you ever see the nymphs, get them while you can, they're harder to catch and kill once they're full grown and have a hard shell and can fly! I have truly always been a peace-loving, nonviolent kind of person, but the glee with which I squish the heck out of those things surprises me!
