Are they called flea beetles because...?

Post  Mamachibi on 6/30/2011, 12:22 pm

They look like tiny beetles and jump away when you try to catch them like fleas? If so, I've identified what's eating my bell pepper and potato plants! Shocked

Okay. I'm planting a trap crop of Chinese mustard tomorrow.

So happy you are not a spray happy gardener I am sure that works for some, just not my style. I like the trap crop idea. I have had good luck planting onions around their favorite crop, eggplants (I plant them around tomatoes and peppers too) to deture the pests as well. It is working just as well as ever. I have only seen a few of the wee devils.

Yeah, if I wanted sprayed produce, that's a whole lot easier to get at the local stuffmart. Razz
