Who needs meat anyhow?

Post  sherryeo on 7/4/2011, 11:52 am

Beautiful, Boff! I could happily sit down to a meal based solely on those gorgeous veggies! I can make a meal out of just a tomato sandwich - just bread, mayo and sliced tomato, too!

Sooner or later, though, even as much as I love the veggies, I'm gonna get a craving for a nice thick steak or hamburger! I can go vegetarian for weeks and have before, but I'm just not ready to completely give up on meat! I'm a shameless carnivore!

You get such good results from your sfgs! That PNW weather, as much as you groan about it, seems to have SOME advantage for growing veggies! Or perhaps it's just your gardening talent - probably a combo of both!

No talent whatsoever. No skill needed when you garden by the SFG book. But notice that everything is cool season veggies and relatively easy to grow. It's the warm season veggies that you guys grow that I can only dream about some summers.

We are summertime vegetarians. Eating a variety of our veggies for a meal is so sating that we're not even interested in preparing a meat dish. When the harvests slow down in late summer, meat creeps back in because the store veggies just don't have the substance to satisfy us.

Ah! Summertime vegetarians - I could get behind that idea! Unfortunately, I have 4 male family members who would protest loudly if I tried to cut all meat. But maybe I'll sneakily try to cut back on the meat in favor of more veggie content, after all, it would be so good for their health and what they don't realize won't hurt them! Wink

Beeeauty! I agree who needs meat. The last time I made curry for my bro he asked "Couldn't you put some meat in that?"
I'm a whateveratarien I will eat what ever my gardener, hunter, fisher friends will share in addition to what I grow.
With the exception of armadillo the is currently a CDC warning on armadillo meat.
New England Journal of Medicine found that one third of the cases of leprosy reported in the United States each year are caused by contact with armadillos, primarily in Louisiana and Texas where some people hunt, skin and eat armadillos the leathery-skinned mammals.
