Non - garden

Post  Selandra on 7/13/2011, 9:44 am

So haven't posted forever because this year I didn't make a garden...

But I did get a suprise in my backyard where I fed the birds all winter.

Next year I'll have a garden... I hope.

I had the same thing happen under my kitchen window. The birds would carry their seeds to the electrical wires and eat.....well, almost all the seeds were eaten. They were the biggest and prettiest sunflower seeds I've ever grown.

I tried to grow my own from seed for several years and gave up because something kept nipping them off, or they just fell to the ground. I guess you just can't beat Mother Nature.

Your so right, I tried to grow a whole bunch along the back fence but the little buggers all died. Didn't even try and now I have a whole crop. The cool thing is that I've been getting birds I've never gotten before. I finally got a shy indigo bunting to hang around and then this interesting guy showed up. Except he came for the grain that grew up with the sunflowers.
