Why not become a Certified SFG Teacher?!!

Post  sfgteachers on 7/20/2011, 6:36 pm

When you become certified with SFGF, you will automatically have credibility in the gardening world! If you're already an expert at it than its a no brainer to become certified and start charging fees for speaking engagements. You can even start an SFG business of your own. I am Belinda, the teacher coordinator for the foundation and can answer any questions!

Hey Arlene:

I'm heading to Spring Hill next week to pick up my mom to bring her to MD to live with me.

The only "prerequisite" to become a Certified SFG Teacher is to have read the book.

I'm hosting the Baltimore Symposium.

Kim

You can attend a symposium and become certified in 3 days or you can do the course through correspondence on your own time. The symposium really is the better way to go but is more costly. A Correspondence Teacher kit can be purchased on the SFG website for $77. I am available to help walk you through it as well. Certification basically entails reading the book, completing a quiz and a personal interview.

I started with the correspondence course but jumped at the chance to go to a symposium when I returned to the States. It is SO worth it.

Is there a list of scheduled symposia available?

Post  ChicagoLaura on 7/21/2011, 12:27 pm

I'm in the Central Midwest (Chicago/Milwaukee) and would love to know if there were an upcoming symposium near me?

Thanks for any information...

(Kim, I'm sorry I'm not in your area and can't make it out there this summer. But I do wish you all the best in Baltimore! Such a beautiful, lush area of our amazing country!)

Laura

There is a large contingent of SFGers on this forum from around the Midwest. If we make some noise, we may get a symposium near us soon. It's all about demand.

Check the Midwest thread. I'll start something we can respond to.

Hey Furbs, that's what I was going to tell them. Very Happy

Someone (or hopefully a couple of someones) needs to find the conference space & hotel rooms (often the same place), advertise in the local papers, make copies, take orders at the symposium, etc.

I Really wanted to attend the symposium but just can't seem to fit it into our budget this year, So instead of waiting and hoping I can do it next time My Hubby gave me the Green light to buy the Home study Course. I'm so excited to get started. Very Happy

SFG as a Great Business from Home!

Post  sfgteachers on 7/22/2011, 10:48 am

Certification can really open new windows of opportunity. I formed a successful SFG business that I started in 2009. Our family makes a significant amount of money each year that really helps! We work right from our home and provide a real service to our community. We build boxes, are licensed to make Mel's Mix, and deliver the SFG right to the customer's home, grid, weed cloth and even set up. see our business at www.homegardenstogo.com

Group Certification Series

Post  sfgteachers on 7/22/2011, 11:09 am

SFGF is now offering opportunities for anyone to host SFG Group
Certification Classes. This is less involved than a symposium but takes longer. All you need to do is round up 6 people or more
who want to become certified. All will receive the teacher kits at a
discounted rate. The host will earn money for sponsoring the class and
everyone will benefit by learning together in a series of sessions. If
you would like to host a class in your hometown contact Belinda at
