Watermelons turning black

Watermelons turning black
My watermelon plants has had several tiny watermelons. Unfortunately, they are all turning black and dying. Any thoughts? We are in South FL so we're getting a lot of rain! Thanks!

Hi,
to the SFG Forum! Sounds like it may be a fungus but to be sure I would suggest contacting your county Ag Coop Extension service agent U of F Extension Service <~~~click

:/
Yeah, figured. I think it's too wet and hot right now for growing most things. Thanks!

Re: Watermelons turning black
Are they little? Maybe they weren't pollinated properly? or maybe the vine is under stress and is aborting the fruit. I have had a few very small melons do this to me this year and that is what I think is going on. The plant still has a few melons on it, but a few very very tiny ones turned black and dried up.

smaller melons
The melons are about 2-3 inches long when they start to turn black. (Some have turned black and fell off as they are tiny, but these actually stayed and grew!)
