Figuring out times around the world

As the list of members continues to wrap its way around the world, there's going to come a time when we're wondering what time somebody's actually posting/having a chat/etc.

If you go to www.timeanddate.com, there are lots of tools to help you figure out if somebody's an insomniac, an early bird, or just posting at a normal time for them...

and this page of the site: http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedform.html lets you enter a time and date (either where you are locally, or the time for, say, an upcoming chat session) -- and it will tell you what time it will be around the world.

If, for example, I want to have a yack session with Claire in Ohio at 8 pm MY time tomorrow...I put in the time and date I'd like to talk to her , select Paris as MY location ('cause it's close enough for government work, even if I'm not really IN Paris)...and it will give me what time I'll need to tell her to log on (Monday at 14.00, which is 2 pm -- it references Detroit, Atlanta, and a half-dozen other East Coast US cities...which aren't Cleveland, I know, but I know it's in the same time zone as any of them.. (you can sort it by time zone, too, to help you dial it in...)

Remember that a lot of the world uses a 24-hour clock....so if it's more than 12, just subtract 12 from the number and add PM. So 20.00 is 8pm, 17.00 is 5 pm, and so on - because 9.00 is 9 AM.
