Well Water in Coastal Areas

Post  JennyAnn69 on 7/26/2011, 7:20 pm

I have had my garden for a couple years now and recently we had a well dug and sprinklers put in for our lawn, and a spicket out in my garden. Since then my blueberry bushes leaves are browning and curling up as well as my tomato plants. I have heard that some well water on the coasts can have salt water in them. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is what is killing my garden or if it's something else??
Thanks so much for any help!

I'd get the water checked. Are you using the water for other plants? grass?

if the blueberry and tomatos are the only plants that are affected, I'd check the ph. It may be real akaline, and they both like acidity. Don't water the leaves of the plants. Salt in the water will kill all the plants, including the grass.
