Northern California Coastal and Inland Valleys: USDA hardiness zones 7-9; AHS Heat zones 5-8; Sunset zones 7-17

Running from Just north of Redding, south to just south of Santa Maria on the coast and south of Bakersfield inland.

Growing season: In the south the season can be continuous and perfect for nearly everything. Inland can have 9 to 10 months.

Northern California is divided into two climate reigns.
The Coastal
area is affected by fog, cool days and nights and only minor changes in
temperate from winter to summer. Summer is usually dry from March to
November but fog keeps the temperature cool. Mountain valleys are a
little warmer but still affected by fog. Frost is rare. The growing
season is from mid February to late November.

Inland Valleys
are dry (10 to 20 inches of rainfall a year compared to 40 to 60 on the
coast). Not only is the inland hotter in summer, it is colder in winter.
