Really cool zone and freeze date map

Post  littlesapphire on 8/2/2011, 10:47 am

I don't know if this has been posted here or not, but I thought everyone might be interested in this hardiness zone and freeze date website. It's an interactive map that lets you put your zip code in and then it lists off all the information you could ever want about your exact area.

I found this site especially useful because, living so close to Lake Erie, the hardiness zones and frost dates vary so wildly in a very small area, so I wanted to get the exact date for my town. (I'm in zone 5a, but just a half hour drive away is a zone 6a area, for instance.)

Anyway, thought this might be useful!

Canadian zones

Post  hankyknot on 8/2/2011, 3:29 pm

now if only they could do something like that for Canada, I seem to have to guess all the time. Or should I be playing it safe and pretending to be a 4 or a 6?

Hi- you are right - from what I googled - the sites for Canada don't seem to be as interactive - you have probably seen these, but thought I'd post them here just in case - Also you may want to post the question in your regional forum to see if anyone there has a better resource... Smile

This one gives frost dates for cities in New Brunswick -

This is another frost dates chart -

...and this site seems to address hardiness zones
