it was supposed to be a melon...

It was supposed to be a moon and stars watermelon...but as its grown, it doesnt look like any of the pics of a moon and stars melon that I've seen. Help?

thats a weed, I remember pulling one last year. I think its called velvet leaf? I did the same thing let it grow grow grow until someone was like YANK that!!!

Wow Chocolatepop! Excellent! It's not a bad idea to pull that sucker before it makes seed! Here is some info about Velvet leaf

What a shame - it's beautiful in the picture!! I've never seen it in this part of Washington (Tri-cities area). I'll have to ask my hubby - he sees lots of farms on his job.

Beneficial: Velvetleaf was used as a fiber crop in
China since 2000 B.C. The stem and branches of velvetleaf produce long strong fibers used
for cord, rope, binder twine, fishing nets, coarse cloth, paper and a caulk for boats
(Mitich 1991; Spencer 1984). The seeds are eaten in China and Kashmir (Spencer 1984).


Garden Girl, I think I may have pulled it out from our yard (The Tri) once or twice, growing in the middle of the grass. If not it was something that looked similar. I remember thinking, why is a pumpkin plant growing in the middle of the grass? lol
