Growing eggplant indoors in cooler temps?

I need to know if this is do-able or not:
Growing black beauty eggplant indoors with the average temp is 40 to 50 degrees in the winter.
I've read here that eggplants like really warm weather, but I would like to know if someone has had luck with them at cooler temps? And maybe tell how they managed it.

You can try growing indoors, but the temp must be at least 58 deg. inside Here is a link telling how. http://www.ehow.com/how_6683022_growing-eggplant-indoors.html
