Finally introducing myself

Post  gwennifer on 8/29/2011, 12:45 am

Hi,

Just wanted to officially introduce myself on the forums here. (I jumped right in to the PNW Regional Forum asking questions without saying hi to everyone first Embarassed ). So hello!

I live in the PDX area. I bought the All New SFG book when I was ready to commit to a garden in our tiny yard. I've stubbornly refused to use the space for a lawn and unfortunately it's been just dirt for seven years now... May as well plant a garden, right? But no room for a row garden here! I have only fourteen feet from my kitchen window to the back fence. Mel had me at "Who's in charge here, anyway?" (pg. 13)! I was an engineer in a former life and this gardening method REALLY appealed to me.

I have my first bed going now with my first ever garden plants - peas, cauliflower, broccoli, and spinach. Harvested a bunch of micro greens today and I'll be planting some radishes tomorrow.

I have three lovely kiddos - aged nine years to 9 months. I feel very blessed to be able to stay home full time and care for them. I'm grateful to have found this community and hope to be able to fit in and be useful!

Thanks,
Gwen

You will find this forum an excellent compliment to the book. If you have follow-up questions, most of the people around here are more than willing to give detailed answers, most based on experience. You simply won't find a nicer group of people.

Remember, we love to see photos of other garden layouts. And, we love adding new, active members to the forum. Welcome aboard, and I hope I see more of you soon!

Gwennifer, you will find we have a pretty good fall season here. Glad to see you got your bed going and looking forward to hearing how everything progresses.
