Chinese elm tree seeds in compost?

Post  Roseinarosecity on 9/15/2011, 5:25 pm

It's that time of the year when the seeds from the Chinese elm tree fall down EVERYWHERE. If I don't pick them up, I will have thousands of Chinese elm tree seedlings in the spring. When I sweep these up I dump them in my green trash can, I have this great fear they are going to be too overwhelmingly happy in my compost pile, yet I feel guilty dumping them. Has anybody had good luck putting Chinese elm tree seeds in their compost pile? The trees belong to my neighbors on my right and left.
