Ok to plant in Idaho yet?

Post  Amy in Idaho on 3/30/2010, 12:34 am

I am new to SFG. Just got two of my boxes made, more to come. Is it too early to plant outside in the Idaho Falls, Pocatello area? Zone 4. I am starting my broccoli, cauliflower, and tomatoes inside. Looking to plant zuc, cucumber, beans, peas, lots of lettuce, spinach, radishes, carrots, basil and lots more. In the past I have waited until May 25 to June 1 to plant outdoors because I thought the cold would kill my sprouts. Looks like others have already started planting outdoors, i.e. Layton Utah. Any advice will be greatly welcomed. I will post pictures of my boxes as soon as they hit my e-mail. Thanks all!

Looks like you aren't too much colder than here in the Salt Lake area, so I think you'll probably be safe planting the hardiest plants like peas, lettuce and spinach. As for the tomatoes, my rule of thumb has been to plant them on memorial day.
