Greetings from the Meredith Family

Post  jlmeredith on 11/14/2011, 1:23 am

Just a quick hello. We are a four person family, located just outside of Nashville, TN and we are currently in the planning stages for putting up our first SFG.

Yesterday, I managed to score a great deal at Home Depot for about $120 worth of untreated 2x4's and 2x8's for $30 (scrap from bad boards and cuttoffs). I will be using this wood for our beds. I am planning to do stand up beds with a fold down step that will allow the little ones to help us with the gardening (3 year old and 4 year old).

I will be posting to this forum and my blog at http://tmgstudio.com regularly with progress of the project. Thanks to those who maintain this forum as it has been a great source of inspiration and information over the last couple of months as we have planned for our garden.

glad you\'re here
As you probably already know we learn, we laugh, we help each other, sometimes even console one another, who could ask for a better forum? Together we grow thousands of plants who are of course speechless, yet it gives us a common bond of seemingly endless communication. (Or babbling Razz )

Welcome to the group!!!

We also have helping little hands in the garden!!.....we love it and together had the best summer ever! Very Happy

just today the family was out working on compost for the gardens cheers it was cold...but the kids put on extra jackets, gloves and hoods and off they went with daddy working hard......they were sure excited to see how our first compost bin turned into dirt.....it was so cute.....we put things in the bin all summer long.....they hadnt really looked at it for about a month now since the weather has turned rainy and cold....so when dad started to shovel the compost into the garden.....my son said.....*hey*...*that looks just like dirt!*...and i yelled out the door.....*what does it smell like?*.....the answer back from hubby and son.....*smells like dirt too!* Razz

the children finally got to see the end result of putting....lawn clippings, leaves, critter poo and kitchen left overs into the big bin that daddy had built.....they now know what it means to compost.......it was a great day!

hugs

Yay! Another Tennesseean. I'm in Birchwood, down Chattanooga-way. This is a fantastic forum family & no matter what type of question I have had in the past, someone always came up with the answer. Glad to have you here.

I'm new, too, and really looking forward to seeing what you do. My grandchildren are far away, but my 3-year-old grandnephew is close by and loves to be out in the yard with Nana. I hope to get lots of tips from you.
