Growing and eating Sweet Potatoes

I did not know whether to put in the growing area, or eating, so.

I grew the sw. potatoes in MM, in 2 areas. I dug the first area before first frost, and put them on a tarp on the porch to dry. I worried about how to cure them. I asked a couple farmers and at the feed store and no one 'cures' their sw. potatoes. I did not get the 2nd area dug til we had a frost, which burnt off the vines. I hurried up and dug the rest, and dried them on the tarp. I put them in boxes of straw in the well house, it stays above freezing in there, maybe about 45 deg, even in the heat outside.

For Thanksgiving dinner I took some of them that did not get fat, just long and skinny, like a carrot. I just peeled them and cut into rounds, added a bit of butter to keep them from sticking to dish, and baked with no seasonings or sugar. They were real sweet, tasted good. No curing done.

I could not buy slips around here, so grew my own from the grocery. Any one know where to buy 'organic' slips or potatoes for growing your own?

I do not know where to get slips either. I just used one from the store too. Let us know if you find a place.
