High School and all the crazy fabulous things he does on the side, I think, makes Josh a very busy boy.

I'm sure he's fine. Growing season is done in Iowa and I didn't get to see much of him until well into spring of last year. He isn't going anywhere.

Hey BBG - I think Josh is actually in the southern half of Illinois. Smile And I agree - the holidays are coming, school is in full force...and for many schools here, finals are coming up. I'd say he's just got other things on his mind right now. Smile

Re: Where's Josh hiding?

Post  Josh on 11/27/2011, 4:54 pm

Hey everyone!
sorry It's took me so long to post!

I've had indeed had a lot going on, let me catch you all up to date....LOL

I have been doing some bird watching like BBG..I'll start a new post all about that.

I do have my own web place...but I am not leaving here, I post about the same there as I do here, I just wanted to learn how to do it.

I've been out on several fire calls, but all have been field fires and nothing to dangerous. And have had some training lessons.

I was in the talent contest at school, I played for the first time in front of all the kids and teachers at school, I took 1st place! They stood up and cheered for me and wanted and encore, I received the highest scores ever in the contest. I played my banjo, starting with cripple creek, and then Mt. Dew for my encore,

Now I'm getting ready for the homecoming dance....I've never been before...former girlfriend didn't want to ever go. Now that I am available...I had two girls ask me to go...I couldn't choose between them...I like them both...they came up with a solution...I will take both of them...one on each arm! I picked out my tux last week...all black. The girls have informed me that cowboy boots are the latest thing and I am wearing black cowboy boots with the tux, and the girls are wearing cowboy boots with the dresses and checking with the other guys and girls that seems to be what they are all doing with the cowboy boots. Having to work after school with my dad to earn some extra money to pay for taking the girls out to eat and buy them flowers.

I'll keep everyone up to date on how things go, and I have some garden things to update on too!

Good to hear from you, Josh! Congrats on the first place in the talent show! Now, don't you go getting conceited because you had 2 (two!!!) girls ask you to the dance!

Glad to hear of all you've been doing to keep busy! Do remember to check in with us once in a while to keep us updated!

I've been out on several fire calls, but all have been field fires and nothing to dangerous. And have had some training lessons.

Take your camera! Keep it in the truck with your bunker gear and you'll still get some opportunities to grab a couple of shots.

When I was taking pics for the local newspaper, I was always on call with guys like you in SE Kansas. So, when you say it was nothing too dangerous, I will tell you not to drop your guard. When the wind switches, you can become trapped really fast.

I caught some old pics (not saved....Sad ) when the boys were tricked by the wind and the blaze went uphill to a storage area of over 100 bales of hay. That was a fire! I've also seen wind switch and take things towards barns with animals, the farmer's house, and even into other fields trapping animals. My favorite was when the firemen were trapped, I was currently on the hose (never smart), and we all got stuck because the only way out was through our own mucked ashes. It was pretty embarrassing for the firemen to ask the farmer to go get his tractor and winch us out of our own muck. But, they all made for some great pics!

So, don't drop your guard. Things change as fast as the wind out there.

Whew...so glad to hear you've just been busier than the proverbial one-armed paper hanger, Josh.

But nowhere in your summary did you mention when in tarnation you find time to SLEEP!!!

And will you be recording your banjo playing for us at some point, or will it be on your website?

Good stuff, dude. And, you are already two Homecoming dates ahead of my lifetime total. Glad you had fun. Your banjo playing seems to have come a long way, too, in a short time.
