Advice on protecting plants from cold

Post  sherryeo on 11/28/2011, 10:30 pm

Hi everybody! It's supposed to get down into the 30s here for probably the next 3 nights or so. Would it be ok to leave the covers on the plants for those 3 days and nights? I have them covered with sheets mostly - and a couple of large garbage bags split open and pinned around my tomatoes.

Or would it be too hot and/or deprive them of sunlight for too long?

Thanks!

I would take them off during the day, provided temps warm above 32F, and put them back on at sunset.

You aren't supposed to get frost that far down there are you? Wow, I just ran away to check and it looks like you have some decent potential for frost. Cover up!

we are getting cold as well. I have a few plants that I covered. If I did not uncover them would that cause a problem?
