the home page welcome colours

Post  plantoid on 12/16/2011, 9:54 am

I really do like the home page welcome , it's just the job for all sorts of people ..

Can you alter the colour of the titles for the new gardeners and that of the old hands to something that really stands out as a title .
May I suggest the dark red or the vibrant blue ?

Plantoid,

After googling 'just the job', just to be on the safe side, thank you. Ironically, it is a direct product of our 'conversations' when you started on the forum. And in an effort to put the welcome into fresh words, writing the welcomes was a task given to the prospective admins that mm was considering. NR did a nice job.

I've been thinking the same thing about the title colors. Since working with colors is not easy for me, I'm going to let the boss address that. He has been studying basic html as fast as he can since he got the job. This will be a good opportunity to dig deep into a busy table and figure out how to modify it! Stay tuned!

P.S. The title's text color green is the same green as the horizontal bars. It sure faded badly against the background.

plantoid, you do bring up a good point. I will see what I can do with it to maybe make it stand out a little better. I think it looks really nice, but you are right, it could stand out more.

We really want it to catch peoples attention affraid Great suggestion.

Think it looks alright? It proved to be a challenge I tell ya what! Colors can be a pretty daunting task to look right, fit in, and yet catch your attention at the same time. I thought it was anyway Razz

Hey NR, those two text boxes are not lined up my browser - the right side is lower by a bit... you might want to check your values on the positioning....

ashort, thanks for your input nonetheless. It's important to hear feedback, otherwise there may be issues that we aren't aware of.

I'll be the first to confess, I prefer Chrome and sometimes don't think about others using different browsers. I am trying to get in the habit of checking things out from a couple different angles to try and cover most bases Very Happy

Yep, when doing work on the inter-webs you have to test with numerous browsers. IE is the one used by most folks who are not geeky, but the heavier users use FF and then there are the mac people and chrome is a growing option...check this out http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/default.asp...

My husband is a web developer and I had to do a bit for my degree in college (years ago, when Netscape was still king in the browsing world). I know firsthand how frustrating it can be trying to get things lined up just right across all the platforms (and monitor sizes). It's kind of funny. My husband can make these amazing, data-driven, multi-function, commerce-enabled websites that cost thousands of dollars to be developed. He will spend a disproportionate amount of time working on getting it to look right in all the browsers. Dealing with it gets into the nitpicky details that aren't as fun and he always tells me it hurts his brain. Laughing

I've let the new look " Welcome page " feed the worms in my brain for a couple of days ..

It is good , far better than before .

Now can you highlight the " click here " sections in the same colour blue ?

I feel it would encourage a reader to actually follow the script , read it and do the right thing by clicking on the blue , to take them to the full information page display .

The links are already there, at the end of the welcome statements.

I did notice at my workplace today what others were talking about, the slight misalignment of the welcome statements on the homepage. I was looking at the page in Firefox on a 15" prehistoric gateway monitor. It still looked pretty good to me. What a Face

By the way, Happy Birthday Plantoid!
