long bean recommendation?

Post  dixie on Tue 3 Jan 2012 - 13:00

My DH likes the stir fried green beans we get at a Chinese restaurant. I usually just pick immature bush beans & fix for him, but I'm working on my Baker Creek seed order & thought I'd try one of the long beans. (I also realize the restaurant may use regular green beans, but I still want to try)

Is anyone familiar with any of these? http://rareseeds.com/vegetablesa-c/beans/long-beans.html

They all sound really prolific, so I'll probably plant a few in a bucket with a teepee trellis.

I just read a post by JKahn2eb about the Chinese Red Noodle beans which made me want to give them a try. Here's the quote: "Favorite late addition to the garden are the Chinese Red Noodle Beans. So tasty to pluck and eat from the garden"

Dixie, I was super happy with the rattlesnake pole beans! AWESOME growing, prolific, fabulous taste and they didn't grow so tall as I needed a ladder (I'm 5'2")
The dragons tongue is really good too.
