I don't know but I am surely impressed with their snow removal skills!

That's just crazy! There's a guy I know from another message board who lives in Mammoth Lakes, CA. He posts pictures of his town with snow like that. Smile I haven't seen any from him lately - I wonder if they're getting snow this year like they normally do.

I have always wondered how they clear snow that high. I've only seen pictures like this in Greenland in a village. They had to do this with their walkways. The "convenient store" would always be completely snowed in...had to access through a tunnel. And, people couldn't look out their windows because the snow covered them up....on the first floor anyway.

The lower 48 hasn't received snow compared to average. A lot of places are only at 10% of their average, where last year they were at 150% already. The water tables will likely suffer at some point this year, especially out west. However, Alaska has been getting creamed. One place I can remember the name of has had 175 inches....18 of which in the last 24 hours. They had 70 something by the end of October! Good luck finding the ground there before May.

when i was in the air force stationed in montana they had a slighly bigger vertion of that snow blower for clearing the runway it was 3 stages over 6 ft. tall, pushed along by a 12 cylinder oshkosk dumptruck fulla salt. plus it towed a sweeper behind it powered by a chiesler v8 moter. mind you when they used it to clear the streets on the base they had spotters walk in frount of it to check for snow forts i wont go into the gory details, but it happened.
