When When When

Post  cecillwilson on 1/14/2012, 11:30 am

So last year I put my raised bed together and was able to harvest some green beans, lettuce, cucumbers, and several herbs. Right now it is mid January, although it feels more like March. I would like to know when I should really start cultivating my bed and get it ready for the next planting season. I am very much looking forward to trying my hand at square foot gardening this year, I did it, sort of, last year by complete accident. I have done my research, I am just ready to get going. Any advice would be helpful. I live in Plano, just north of Dallas Texas.

Since it is a new season, take advantage and do your last ever cultivating by removing the top six inches of soil and add Mel's Mix. There, cultivation over and no need to ever do it again.

Make sure you have your grid ready, check locally and online for your best things to plant now and get going!

Hey cecillwilson:

Have you had the chance to read the All New Square Foot Gardening book yet? When you fill your raised beds with Mel's Mix there will be no need to "cultivate". . . EVER! WOO HOO!
